AGE CONCERN ESSEX could not function without our team of dedicated and hard working volunteers who provide support and opportunities for older people across Essex.

If you have the time, however little, there are so many ways in which you can help and the rewards are great:

Whatever your talents or interests we are sure to find something that you’d enjoy doing and which would help us run our services. Below is a list of the many services and activities that need volunteers in various areas in the county.

Help with the administration of our mobile Toenail Cutting Service

• Do you have experience of clerical/administration work?
• Are you available occasional days in your local area?

Support for lonely and isolated older people for the Befriending service

• Do you have good listening skills?
• Do you live in the Thurrock, Basildon, Braintree or Chelmsford areas?
• Do you have some flexible spare time?

Helping local groups, Social Clubs, Day Centres and Luncheon Clubs

• Do you enjoy the company of older people?
• Are you available occasional days in your local area?

This support could involve a number of tasks from helping cook or serve meals to organising activities. Many groups are also looking for Committee Members to aid in the running of the organisation.

Information & Advice Lines

• Do you have good listening skills?
• Can you communicate well over the telephone?

Fundraising

• Are you innovative and good at organising?
• Do you have plenty of drive and enthusiasm?

Silver Surfing – helping older people with basic computer skills

• Do you have basic computer skills?
• Are you a good communicator?
• Do you have tact and patience?

Support, training and travel expenses are provided for all our volunteers.

In addition to the above opportunities we have a number of new projects in development and are looking for volunteers to help us co-ordinate, set up and support these new services.
